Tucked along the Georgia coast, Sapelo Hammock Golf Club offers a true Southern country club style golf experience surrounded by marsh views, winding water, and quiet coastal scenery. The course feels peaceful and natural, but it can quickly challenge you if your shots are not placed carefully.

From the first few holes, the layout rewards patience and accuracy more than raw power. Marsh edges, water hazards, and narrow landing areas make every club selection important. It is the type of course where smart golf usually beats aggressive golf.

The Scenic Signature Hole

The prettiest hole of the day was easily Hole #17, a stunning par 3 where golfers hit across the water toward a green framed by scenic marsh views. Standing on the tee box with the coastal marsh stretching into the distance creates one of the most memorable moments on the course. It is beautiful, relaxing, and nerve wracking all at once.

The Toughest Stretch on the Front 9

Hole #8 was one of the hardest holes for accuracy because of the marsh shot placement required throughout the hole. You really need to stay focused and keep the ball positioned correctly to avoid trouble near the marsh areas. It is a challenging hole that punishes mistakes quickly but feels very rewarding when played well.

Early Morning Gnats Along the Marsh

Like many golf courses across Coastal Georgia, the gnats were still very active around 8 AM, especially near the marsh and water areas. Early morning spring rounds can still get buggy this time of year.
