Lowcountry Spring & Sand Gnats — Thank You

Spring in the Lowcountry always seems to pass faster than expected.

From afternoons in Richmond Hill to walks along the waterfront in Savannah, beach days on Tybee Island, and time spent outdoors in Wilmington Island, Brunswick, Jekyll Island, and Hilton Head — this is the season everyone looks forward to.

Of course, it also means one thing:

Sand gnats are back.

A Season Full of Feedback (and Gratitude)

Over the past few months, we’ve been incredibly thankful for the messages, reviews, and conversations we’ve had with so many of you.

Whether it’s at local events, through online orders, or just neighbors sharing their experience, we keep hearing thoughtful comments like:

  • “This has been working really well for us out here.”

  • “We’ve tried a lot — this one feels different.”

  • “Finally, something that helps with sand gnats.”

And a few people have even gone as far as calling it
“the best sand gnats repellent in the Lowcountry.”

We don’t take that lightly — and we don’t say it ourselves. But we’re truly grateful to hear it.

Built for Life Along the Coast

Living in coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry means we all deal with the same conditions:

  • Humidity

  • Marsh air

  • Early mornings and late evenings outdoors

  • And of course… Sand Gnats

That’s why Burly Elephant was created right here in Richmond Hill, Georgia — with real everyday use in mind.

From soccer fields to fishing trips, from beach walks to backyard evenings, the goal has always been simple:

Make something people actually want to use.

Where People Are Using It

It’s been great seeing where the product is showing up:

  • Families spending time outdoors in Richmond Hill

  • Walks and weekend outings around Savannah

  • Beach days on Tybee Island

  • Quiet coastal living on Wilmington Island

  • Trips down to Brunswick and Jekyll Island

  • Golf rounds and evenings in Hilton Head

Different places, same challenge — and hopefully a little more comfort.

Heading Into Summer

As we move into the hotter months, we know time outdoors doesn’t slow down — it just looks a little different.

That’s why we’ve also been seeing more people reaching for our Cool Me Maybe Spray — especially after long days in the sun, post-activity, or just when you want that light, refreshing feel without anything heavy on the skin.

It’s been fun hearing how you’re using it in your daily routines.

And we’re also quietly working on something new behind the scenes.

Nothing big to announce just yet — but we’re excited to share more soon.

Be Comfortable. Be Adventurous. Be Protected.

If you’re spending time outdoors anywhere in the Lowcountry, we hope you get to enjoy it a little more.

And if you’ve shared feedback with us — thank you. It means more than you know.
